Interpreters play an essential role in day-to-day communication with people from our multi-ethnic communities.  With their combined linguistic, intercultural and interpersonal skills, as well as their professional training and experience, interpreters provide an effective, impartial and confidential communication channel between speakers of different languages.  A professional interpreter will be neutral, able to translate technical terms and retain strict confidence, which a family member or friend may find difficult.

Professional specialisms

Cintra has the experience and expertise to source interpreters for you in over 100 languages, with the right qualifications and training, whenever and wherever they are needed.  All our interpreters specialise in at least one discipline - legal, health or local government.

Every day, Cintra's interpreters successfully assist police forces, courts, GPs, hospitals, social services and businesses in the UK in their communications with non-English speakers.

For appointments which are diagnostic, sensitive, complex or of a longer duration, such as police interviews, court hearings, medical consultations or client meetings. The interpreter typically interprets consecutively, by first listening to a section of speech and then saying it in the other language.

A cost-effective solution for emergency situations or short appointments, such as enquiries and referrals, situations where you need to contact people in remote locations, or for rare language requests where face-to-face interpreters are less readily available.

British Sign Language (BSL) is the sign language used in the UK to communicate with deaf or hard-of-hearing people.  It is a language of space and movement using the hands, body, face and head.  For people with a loss of vision as well as hearing we can provide qualified interpreters specialising in Hands on signing, Visual frame signing and Deaf blind manual.
